Wisconsin Pharmacy Benefits Combination Challenges National Giants

April 9, 2019

A “significant number” of southeast Wisconsin employers are in the pipeline to enroll in a new local pharmacy benefits program that promises savings and a departure from the much-maligned large national pharmacy benefits firms.

After receiving a positive initial reception from employers, the partnership between Navitus Health Solutions of Madison and metro Milwaukee’s Business Health Care Group plans to go nationwide.

The Business Health Care Group is a coalition that includes some of the largest Milwaukee-area employers and endeavors to contain health benefits costs. Navitus Health Solutions is a pharmacy benefits management company that promises to deliver savings of 15% to 20% compared with the “big pharmacy benefit managers” the first year an employer enrolls, said Navitus CEO president Terry Seligman.
