Know Your Options for At-Home COVID-19 Test Kits

As a member, plan sponsor or consultant, do you understand what the new federal guidance on free at-home COVID-19 tests means to you? As part of Navitus’ mission to improve health outcomes, we want to make sure that you know the variety of options that are available to obtain test kits.

who is eligible?

As of January 15, 2022, members covered by private health insurance or a group health plan can get at-home COVID-19 tests authorized by the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at no charge. State Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are currently required to cover at-home COVID-19 tests without cost-sharing. For those with Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage, free over-the-counter (OTC) tests will be available in early spring 2022. Test kits will be reimbursed up to $12 per test, with a quantity limit of eight tests per covered individual every 30 days, for kits obtained without a health care provider’s involvement or prescription.

What are the options?
