Putnam | Northern Westchester Health Benefits Consortium (PNW HBC) was the first municipal cooperative health plan in the state of New York to become certified by the Department of Insurance. They are dedicated to meeting — and exceeding — the standards of insurance law for plan design, financial stability and documentation.
Wanting more strategic cost savings, expert plan support and a more responsive partner to help them achieve their pharmacy benefit goals, PNW HBC partnered with Navitus in 2018.
A Trend of Success
With Navitus as their new pharmacy benefit manager, PNW HBC was empowered to carefully evaluate their needs and goals and implement strategies that resulted in a 10.4% decrease in net total cost PMPM after year one.
While year one savings are valuable, the trust measure of success is the continual attention to cost-management strategies that have enabled PNW HBC to remain below average trend for the past six years.
A Partnership for the Future
Navitus helps PNW HBC meet their goals with ever-evolving strategies and new opportunities to control trend — including a multi-pronged approach that supports the required standards of their plan.
Plan Design: Formulary decisions are clinically based and unincumbered by high-cost, high-rebate offerings.
Financial Stability: We provide opportunities for PNW HBC to manage their costs while keeping member health a priority — including 100% pass-through of rebates and fees and advocating for generic options when clinically appropriate.
Documentation: Our long-standing tradition of true transparency means PNW HBC has full access to their data — at the individual claim level — and is empowered to make the most effective decisions for their organization.
Moving to Navitus as our PBM in 2019 was one of the best decisions we’ve made as a company and one we wish we made sooner. They truly look out for their clients’ best interest and these numbers and results speak for themselves. Plus, they have a top-tier account management team and fantastic customer service that makes moving to Navitus a no-brainer.
